Celebrating love <3

My best friend got married!

This season we have celebrated love! My best friend in London married her soulmate at a beautiful heart-warming ceremony supported by their family and friends. It is such an honour to be invited to witness their union solidifying their eternal commitment to each other, and be a life witness of their ongoing journey together. This was only exceeded by being trusted to be an official witness of the marriage.

What to wear as a wedding guest

Thinking about what to wear and pre-testing different looks is definitely a big part of the fun leading up the special day. A couple of months in advance, my friend and I would share what dresses and accessories we were considering wearing.

I was looking for an elegant yet subtle look. I chose a full-length pleated dress in blush pink from Asos Design. The vertical pleats accentuate the height and create an elegant silhouette, while the ribbon accentuate the waist line. The shape of the halterneck draws attention to the face. I paired with my pointed rose gold stiletto heels with sparkly pink rhinestones and a small gold bag to add a playful touch.  The look was complemented by subtle makeup; cat eye and pink lips and straightened hair.

The day of the wedding turned out to be very sunny and in fact even the warmest day of the year!

Although unplanned, the night before when we took out our dresses and hung them side by side, we were delighted with surprise that somehow the bride and us two friends had all opted for a halter neckline, and somehow by chance our friend and I had chosen dresses of exactly the same shade!

Small details, big effects!

Sometimes the smallest details can really have a big impact. Remember to watch out for these details;

  • Ironing / steaming the outfit: Crinkles where they are not supposed to be can attract unwanted attention. Remember to steam or iron the sides of the outfit as well as the edges.
  • Undergarments: Undergarments can have a surprising effect on how the clothes fit and move during the day. It is recommended to test these with the outfit prior to the day.
  • Size: As simple as it sounds, making sure the clothes are the right sizes ensures an elegant fit and silhouette. It is possible to alter clothes to improve their fit – a skill I can recommend learning!
  • Safeguard your fun! Outfits that sit well, feel well, and survive some movement will allow you to fully enjoy the occasion. Comfort need not be a trade off for aesthetics and beauty, so this is just a reminder when purchasing new; if it looks nice but causes agonising discomfort, there might be some other options out there!

Left is only to say;

Big congratulations to the lovely couple! I wish them a lifetime of love and happiness as they deserve. May they always be a support for each other, and may their love continue to grow ❤

With love, Nou Xx
